This is our beloved Madrona Tree, Arbutus menziesii, one of the true iconoclasts of our local forests, and the wood we use to smoke all our smoked goods! Fun fact-it shares a species name (menziesii) with the other tree in the quiz-the Douglas Fir tree (Pseudotsuga menziesii)-both named after Scottish naturalist Archibald Menzies.

Another fun fact-this tree is in the same plant family as Blueberries!
