We never thought it’d happen: spring! On the island! And one of the nicest ones I can remember, too. We are lucky enough to have an abundance of sunshine, and even a little heat. The apple blossoms are big and bright, and it’s time to start gathering seawater for our salthouses!
Our incredible, hardworking salt team Ian and Izak are doing some big work outside draining our water truck into the salthouses. They’re in the midst of our bucketing process, in which our dried salish sea water is swept into piles and shoveled into big buckets to drain as much water as possible before it’s dried in our warm, dehumidified kitchen. We’ve already harvested 7,000 lbs of salt and are hoping for another record year. We’re up 40 buckets from last year due to their killer work!
And, we’ve got new cookies coming out of the bakery, for those venturing into town! Leah is baking up our new Playhouse cookies, a delectably soft sugar cookie absolutely coated in rainbow sprinkles. We’re also introducing our spring fling cookie, available for a limited time only right now… The Coffee House! Like a coffee cake, but in a cookie. Think crunchy, cinnamon and sugar goodness. I said, point blank, it is the best cookie I’ve ever had.
In other news, if you haven’t tried our first release of 2025, the Smokehouse Blend, I think it’s time. It’s almost a smoky Everything but The Bagel, and perfect on rice bowls, pineapple pork skewers, and any veggies you got in mind.
We’ve got a fun new feature on the website you’ve got to check out! Every season, we’re bringing you a new featured product from our shop. We are so lucky to sell tons of products from our favorite makers all across the country, and we want to share them with you guys, too!
For spring, it’s Swedish Fish time. Grab a bag of one of our personal favorite candies from the Swedish confectioners Bon Bon. We love every flavor, but Elderflower is definitely top. Don’t forget to check back in to see our Summer feature, too!
We are gearing up for a big island summer at home and at the shop, so drop in, grab a nice cinnamon-cookie while ya can, and stay salty, friends!
